This is a contract labor arrangement for a limited duration.
Small accounting firm is in need of a degreed accountant with 5 + years of experience in tax preparation of 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120-S. Having a CPA designation is preferable.

Your Profile:
At a minimum you need 3 to 5 years of experience in income tax preparation
Have an accounting degree and a CPA certificate
Be comfortable with client contact
Be willing to follow our workpaper standards (shortcuts are not appreciated, however suggestions are)

Note: since we have workpaper standards, it will be easy to follow what was done in the prior year.

Skills needed:
• Proficiency with Ultratax Tax Preparation Software for 1040,1065, 1120, 1120S
• Calculate tax projections and prepare Quarterly ES vouchers 1040-ES
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, and Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and QuickBooks.
• Ability to prepare amortization schedules – specialized software is available.
• Communication skills – ability to express yourself verbally and in writing to the firm and or its clients
• Prioritization of task


Tax Software:
• The firm uses Thomson Reuter’s products – Ultratax, Fixed Assets, Practice PCS, and Tool Box.
• Prior knowledge of Ultra-Tax software is a must.
• Bookkeeping is done with QuickBooks
• You will have to make adjusting entries to Quick Books when preparing business tax returns.
• MS Excel and Word and Adobe Acrobat are used in workpaper preparation.
• T-Value Amortization Software


Tax Preparation & Compliance job duties:
Upon receipt of client tax data, updating the job board, track your time on our timesheets, enter time into Practice PCS time & billing software. The firm pays you from these time sheets.

Your job will be processing in tax returns up to completion status using strict adherence to our workpaper requirements. When tax returns have been completed, process out the tax return, including packaging and postage the return and associated materials.

Missing data – be able to make a list of missing data and questions to the client during the processing in of client data. Have a good phone voice and be confident in calling and emailing clients for the missing data. Be able to draft a meaningful email to clients on scheduling, and request for information needed to complete an assignment.

The tax returns are from simple to voluminous & complex.


This is a temporary position:
This is a temporary position that requires 30-40 hours a week until the workload has been completed, which is a subjective measurement. The time is estimated to be between two weeks to one month of work.

This is a Per Diem Assignment – meaning you will be here temporarily as a sub-contractor.
It is assumed you have other work outside of this assignment and qualify as a sub-contractor.
You will be asked to sign a non-competition agreement and a subcontractor agreement.
The firm is willing to discuss paying you on a W-2.


About our Office:
The firm is located in Plano, Texas close to Highway 75, which is convenient to Plano, Allen, Richardson. The office is in a residence which currently has 4 professional workstations with a kitchen (and Patio) available to all. The owner lives in the house. This is a casual environment, however, it is a busy office with more work than the current crew can handle. We need your help.

Office Hours:
Out of tax season its 9:00AM until about 6:00 PM (we can be flexible)
During tax season its 8:00AM until whenever

Compensation:

Please provide your published hourly rate for services.
